We got our hands dirty this week in Y4 when we created our own maps of Egypt.
On Monday, we created our own map of Egypt using salt dough, which was also used by the Egyptians. Firstly, we looked at a map of the world and discovered which continent it was in; the countries it borders; what the capital is and the name of the river which flows through it. We then moulded our dough into the shape of Egypt and used blue laces to represent the Nile, Mediterranean Sea and Red Sea . We used a bit more salt dough to build a small pyramid which we placed next to the Nile. Lastly, we added labels using cocktail sticks and stickers.
The children certainly had lots of fun making them and we think they turned out really well.
