New News Story

Go Girl ages 4-11

After School Activities just for girls ages 4-11 please download the registration form below.

What is Go Girl?

Go Girl is a new project organised by the Stevenage Sporting Futures Team, working in partnership with 10 hosts schools which aim to cover North, Central and South Stevenage. The project aims to bridge the gap between the amount of boys and girls participating in organised sport, by giving the girls an early positive experience in physical activity. Girls aged 4-11 years will have the opportunity to try plenty of different sessions in various locations with close proximity to home.

Host Schools

Ten of our Stevenage schools will be hosting sessions from January 2016 to December 2016 across Stevenage.

Each host school welcomes students from all of our partner schools to attend. The sessions are NOT just intended for students from the host school. Our host schools are on a timetable system across the year ensuring that there is always a school from Central, North and South Stevenage offering a Go Girl session Monday-Thursday.

Who are the coaches?

Coaches are employed by the Stevenage Sporting Futures Team, and include Chantal Malan, Julia Burrows, Andrea Macpherson and Heather Pearson. All coaches are DBS registered, and specialise in a variety of different activities.

Heather Pearson—Gymnastics & Cheerleading Coach.

Julia Burrows—Basketball & Netball coach specialising in a variety of team sports.

Chantal Malan—multi sports coach specialising in tag rugby, kwik cricket, tri golf and Go 5 delivery.

Andrea Machpherson— Power Hoop instructor, aerobics & dance to music instructor and personal trainer.

How do I book and find out more information?

To secure your child’s place you must book with our partnership development manager. You can pick up a  booking form from school and send to Kirsty Williams at Barnwell Community Leisure Centre, Barnwell,

Stevenage, Herts, SG2 9SW or contact Kirsty on kirstywilliams@stevenagesportingfutures.co.uk for an electronic copy.

On arrival of the first session, your child will be given a letter which details dates and school locations across the year. Your child will also be given a FREE Go Girl T-shirt.

What do I need to remember?

Please ensure that your child has a drink for the afterschool sessions, along with suitable clothing for indoors and outdoors depending on what session they are attending. It is imperative that they stay warm as this can play a huge barrier in girls wanting to participate outdoors.

Most Importantly—Encourage your child to have FUN at the sessions.
