Want to join us for a cup of coffee?
On Wednesday 24th April we will be hosting our next Inclusion Team coffee morning.
This will be the perfect time for you to meet our Inclusion team and find out what they do.
We're welcoming any parents or carers that may be free between 9:00 am and 10:00 am on the 24th, to come and join us, in the Family Support Worker room, for a friendly drink and a chat.
You can use this time to ask any specific questions you may have about your child, and more importantly, eat cake!
All jokes aside, we'd love for you to come along, so you can get to know us better and we can get to know you too.
Feel free to bring your child's younger siblings if you need to, but please be aware that we won't have space inside the room for buggies, so they will need to be parked outside.
At our last meeting we discussed:
- Social-communication difficulties, and how we have seen these within the school. We talked about how social-communication difficulties present differently in various children, including how these change as children get older. Some of our parents have recently had a diagnosis and it was interesting to hear their journeys.
- Some parents talked about their friends' perceptions of their children, which is really difficult when others don't understand a child's needs. We discussed how to manage these difficult conversations - as well as listening to the frustrations of parents who have found it difficult to open up fully about their children's needs with their own friends and family.
- We also discussed how soothing animals can be to support children when they are feeling anxious or angry. Lots of our families have dogs and we discussed a recent poll that showed what the favourite breed of dog is for a family pet!
If you'd like to join us, please head over to the Gateway app to book your space now! (There are limited spaces - so book in quick!)
Also, if you have anything specific you'd like to talk about in this meeting, send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with 'ITCM Talking Points' in the subject.
We looking forward to hearing from you!
