An interesting article from the Times Educational Supplement.
In SENCO training I have attended, we often discuss the suspicion that professionals have - that there are many girls in our schools with undiagnosed autism. Currently, for every 4 boys with autism, there is 1 girl. However, experts suspect this figure is much higher - some estimates say there could even be 1 autistic girl for every 2 boys that are going undiagnosed in our primary schools.
Attached is the article from the Times Educational Supplement, for anyone interested in reading it.
And for those of you that don't know - the image attached to this post is Julia, the first autistic character featured on Sesame Street! Episodes with Julia can be viewed on YouTube and are well worth a watch.
