Any parent or carer of a child at Longmeadow School is eligible to apply.
Parent Governor Elections Coming Up Soon!
Are you a parent that cares about education? Do you want to do the best for your child with regards the quality of the teaching they receive? Do you want to have an influence on the curriculum that is taught?
Then you might be our next Parent Governor. Any parent or carer of a child at Longmeadow School is eligible to apply.
We are also looking for professional skills – such as attending meetings, working in a team, managing a budget. If you manage your own business, this would be ideal as we are always looking for business management skills. If you have skills with property management, asset management – these would also be ideal. Plus if you work for public services – Health, Police, Social Care, Education – you will know what we are trying to achieve, so we need you too!
What do Governors Do? We are voluntary workers. Once or twice a term we meet with the school management and discuss the plan for the school. What needs to improve, what needs to change, what we need to do more of. Governors are there to ensure that the school is doing the best that it can do for your child. All governors are also encouraged to visit the school – to visit the classrooms, to get to know the pupils and the staff. In this way we can begin to understand and plan for the future.
What’s our Plan? Our plan is to be an Outstanding School. At the last Ofsted we were good, and it might take a few years to achieve Outstanding, but we know we can get there. We would love it if you want to be part of that journey.
IF you think you might be interested in joining us, please make contact with me, Kathy Dunnett, Chair of Governors – on Kathy.firstname.lastname@example.org I would be delighted to have a chat with you, arrange a meeting at the school and we can discuss exactly what the commitments and expectations are.
NB: We also have a vacancy for a Community Governor (not a parent). If you have any friends, work colleagues or neighbours who you think has the above skills – please do ask them to contact me, Kathy Dunnett, to discuss school governance.
I look forward to meeting you.
Kathy Dunnett, Chair of Governors, Longmeadow School
